James W. Beeke is the Inspector of Independent Schools for the Ministry of Education: Province of British Columbia, Canada. Prior to this position, he was a Christian School principal for twenty years. He holds a Master's degree in Educational Leadership and speaks for a wide variety of educational conferences and teacher professional development meetings. He is the author of seven textbooks for Bible doctrine instruction written for students from the 4th through 12th grades. He and his wife Ruth have been blessed with five children and nine grandchildren.

Great, thorough study!

I have really enjoyed this study of the doctrines of grace. My children are grasping the truths of Scripture. The side stories bring understanding of each doctrine. Thank you!

About the Author
I grew up in Scotland, but after I met my Dutch husband in America we decided to move to New Zealand and that's where we've settled. We bought a patch of land that we've filled with other people's unwanted animals - we didn't advertise for them, they found us! So far we have three miniature horses (we took in two and were surprised 11 months later when a third appeared - yep, we know nothing about horses!), three anti-social alpacas, a grumpy cow, one pet sheep who wants to live in the house, a crazy goat who keeps eating my manuscripts and an escape artist chicken who breaks into our house through the cat flap. And that's just the pets who live outside the house - don't even get me started on the demented, farting dog who keeps burying my shoes! On top of this I have two small girls, one DIY obsessed husband (I said "obsessed" not "skilled") and a 92 year old neighbor who thinks she lives with us.�

I Loved Flynn and Abby

I loved this book. I have quickly fallen in love with this quirky little Scottish town. With its police force of one, the ladies of the knitting club, the unofficial town mayor/pub owner with questionable fashion sense, the American crooner and his manager, the ancient vicar, and now the bad boy of the soccer world and his entourage.
Flynn has always been a bit of a handful. A football protege, he's been thrown into the limelight and made the best of it. Partying, women, booze. He likes the attention and does what he can to stay in the middle of it. Until a career ending injury forces him back to his small home town of Invertary Scotland.
Abby has done the best she can. Disowned by her family for marrying the man she loved. She's now raising her five year old daughter alone after the death of her husband. It's always been a struggle. But after an explosion destroyed her business, her only hope of staying in her home is to sell off part of her land. To Flynn. A decision she regrets every day.
They say opposites attract. And in Abby and Flynns case that is definitely true. Abby has seen the women who hang out with him, and she in no way measures up. And when Flynn looks at Abby, he sees a buttoned up, prim and proper matron. But there is no denying their chemistry. And when Abby's world is threatened, Flynn is forced to grow up and do something he's never done before. Put someone else's needs ahead of his own. And he finds he really doesn't mind if it means he can get closer to Abby and even her little "terrorist" Katy.
This is a very cute series. Well written. They all have their happy ever after. I highly recommend them.

Great story,I loved it.

Humorous,witty and down right fun to read. There are moments of laughter and moments of OMG no..... That's what makes it fun.

Flynn Boyle is a footballer,well... was one. His resent leg injury has put a stop to that. Now he has to figure out what he wants to do with the rest of his life. And his new neighbor is looking like a good place to start.
Flynn encounters Abby's daughter,known as the terrorist in Flynn's eyes.Katy is a force to be reckoned with. Her character is bold,funny and conniving. Katy and Flynn have a love hate relationship at first.They start to grow on each other as time goes on.

Abby is dealing with a lot in her life.From losing her husband at a young age,to raising her daughter the best she knows how. Not having the family backing that a women needs. Her so called mother has thrown her to the curb.She was cut off from the family and money as soon as decided to marry her husband. He was not to the family standard according to her parents.

There is so much to this story,I don't want to go into it all..... That would be a total spoiler. So I will just say this.... Read this!! There is shocker in this story that will having you saying ...What?? OMG....

I really enjoyed this story, it's got a lot meat to it. It feeds every part of your hunger in the story telling department.

Another Great Addition to Invertary's World!

Really, really, REALLY enjoyed this one! It was a bit different than the others, especially with an add in of a child as a major character, but it worked. I loved the depth of the characters and, seriously, who doesn't love a bad boy? Especially a hot, infuriating, reckless one?

The whole opposites attract rule really did well in this story, and the rambunctious little ragamuffin added fun/funny chaos--specifically with her bossiness. I laughed a lot while reading this book and was rooting for the 2 MCs the whole time. Plot twist was awesome, too! Didn't see that one coming!

Overall, another great addition to the wonderful world of Invertary. I can't wait for the next installment!

Tibaire Araujo combina en este libro su experiencia como mujer, pareja,terapeuta, psicologa, amiga,madre, persona....Con muchos episodios de su propia vida y experiencia profesional nos entrega un cumulo de ideas sobre lo que puede llegar a ser el amor cuando tu autoestima y valor propio son tu prioridad y en esa libertad amar al otro...Me senti identificada en muchas de sus paginas...una gran leccion para todos aquellos que alguna vez o actualmente creimos o creemos que el amor significa sufrir...nada mas lejos de la realidad....Recomiendo este libro por su valor para la construccion de la vida en pareja....Los poemas y reflexiones que alli aparecen son hermosos y muestran parte del alma de esta excelente profesional y ser humano....

I truly appreciated this book as an architect

This book is helpful on many levels and lets you get a great in depth look at residential architecture. Clears up a lot of the mystery and sets you straight on just how "easy" designing houses really is. Helpful insight into everything from contracts with client, to meeting with clients, billing, drawings, contractors, and close out. Great examples at end of chapters to bring it all together. Also, wonderful section on clients to avoid.

Combining a grimoire of conjurations to demons of the four directions and seven days of the week with a Book of Secrets full of simple charms, the Grimoire of Pope Honorius was second only to the Key of Solomon in the influence it exerted on magicians, charmers and cunning-folk in both rural and urban France. This grimoire also played a role in social events which rocked France, being used in the Affair of the Poisons which scandalised the French royal court in 1679, and by the young priest who assassinated the archbishop of Paris in 1857. The Complete Grimoire of Pope Honorius contains material translated from all four of the different French editions of the Grimoire of Pope Honorius, including the complete text of one manuscript version never before seen in English (Wellcome 4666), and a new translation of the later corrupted German version of 1845. All of the material and its variations found in the five different editions of the Grimoire of Pope Honorius is contained in this work, presenting the entire corpus of this grimoire in print for the first time. In addition to tracing much of the material to sources such as the Heptameron, the works of Agrippa and earlier religious texts for the first time, the derivation of much of the material into later grimoires including the Grimorium Verum, the Grand Grimoire/Red Dragon and the Black Dragon is clearly demonstrated. As well as charms for health, wealth, sex and protection, the Grimoire of Pope Honorius also contains a substantial number of agrarian charms by the Norman magician Guidon for protecting livestock, emphasising the popular rural use of such charms until at least the 19th century. The corpus of charms comes from diverse sources, including Scot's Discoverie of Witchcraft (1584), and some like the Letter of St Anthony can be dated back to at least the 13th century. Including numerous illustrations, and tables tracing the derivation of the material through the different editions and into other grimoires, the Complete Grimoire of Pope Honorius demonstrates the versatility and significance of this grimoire, cutting past outdated misperceptions to a viewpoint which reflects more accurately the position of the Grimoire of Pope Honorius in the development of magic since the seventeenth century.

Terrible intro, slipshod organization, yet marginally useful

I agree this is very disappointing. What makes this in any way "complete" I have been researching the honorian grimoire for many years and this falls far shot of a useful presentation. Rankine is content to repeat past errors and make specious remarks vis a vis the importance of this work. It is clear he has done very little research. Let me remark also that one manuscript does not make a general statement concerning the rest of the literature. He has virtually nothing to say about the honorian ritual comprising the first part of the book. He has a penchant to take the dates of the print editions at face value, how does can he distinguish between a back dated nineteenth century colportage issue and one issued before 1800? His introduction is little more than a series of mostly irrelevant anecdotes and mistaken impressions. One of the most annoying things is that he repeats the errors he made in other works. Point: there is no 1641 Lemegeton; 1641 is an internal reference in the third part. I daresay he cannot tell the significance of the date March 10, 1641 mentioned therein. Returning to the honorian grimoire his organization is dismal, even knowing that the print dates are false he still does not follow the chronology. His 1760 example follows the content of my 1670 edition. His 1670 issue is clearly the Blocquel edition issued between 1818-1840. Even more importantly he barely acknowledges the manuscript examples in the Bibliotheque National. I could go on at length, but my critique is many pages longer than his introduction. The print versions of the Honorian grimoire were created as commercial items distributed by a network of colportuers to a semi literate customer base. The same cannot be said for the manuscripts versions which have been very under studied in scholarly circles. There are at least three at the Bibliotheque National all penned sometime in the eighteenth century, may be if we ask nicely enough Gallica would post them on line for study. There are also possibly examples dating back to 1629, but so far all I have are tentative titles.

In this edition, Mr.Rankine contrasts and compares 4 French Editions of this Grimoire as well as a 19th Century German edition. One of the French Editions has never before been translated into English. This is a marvelous "ultimate edition" of one of the most influential Grimoires of all time. Highly Reccomended!

The Definitive Work On The Grimoire Of Honorius

Already a fan of David Rankine's work, himself having proven to be an adept scholar and researcher in the grimoire tradition and produced some of the greatest works of the modern era along with Stephen Skinner in their Sourceworks series, I was elated to hear of his forthcoming edition of Honorius. Needless to say, he and Paul Harry Barron did not disappoint. With the exceptional scholarship and meticulousness demonstrated in his previous works, Rankine and Barron have brought Honorius to life in a manner worthy of the genre's other greats - JHP and Skinner.

A good self-study course, if you're interested

I am the reader from Montezuma, NM, and after taking a few more chemistry courses and re-reading the outline, I feel that I should add a few observations to my enthusiastic review from above, which I wrote over 3 years ago.
I own many, many Schaum's Outlines, and am satisfied with all of them. However, before you buy this outline of college chemistry or any of the other Schaum's Outlines, you need to ask yourself what your needs are. If you are looking for a brief review of a subject, you should look elsewhere. If you are taking a course in general chemistry and need a little help with some areas of it, you should look elsewhere--preferably, ask someone with a thorough grasp of the subject to explain those areas to you.
The Schaum's Outlines are best used as a self-study tool. Let's face it, reviewing an entire subject and solving all the problems to gain a solid grasp on the material is difficult and time-consuming, and I suspect few students already enrolled in a course will have the extra time to rehash what they've already been told by reading through a Schaum's Outline, and even fewer will want to go through so many problems--at least in my courses, the problems we are provided are too much to begin with.
For review purposes, Schaum's may help some students, especially if you are reviewing years of material such as I did for my IB exam. However, since you need to know what your course will test you on specifically, you would need to go through the outline along with your notes. Therefore, spending more time reviewing your course notes might be a better use of your time.
Schaum's Outlines are essentially cheaply made textbooks, and, as with other texts, the writing varies widely from one book in the series to another. If a cheap self-study course is what you seek, or you'd like to preview a course you plan to take, by all means go with Schaum's. If you are a student looking for help with a subject, seek it elsewhere.
For help with grades, I suggest you try the Scham's "How to Study" guide and follow their suggestions.

An Excellent Study Aid

This book is concise and complete. The reviews are great, and the problems aren't just busywork--they actually will help you understand the material. For the higher level International Baccalaureate chemistry exam, I have had to review 2 years worth of general chemistry, and this book has helped me immensely.

Excellent self-contained inexpensive chemistry textbook

This has got to be just about one of the best Schaum's outlines available, and that is saying a lot, since there are many good ones. I picked up a copy for self study due to a domino effect - I was attempting to learn molecular biology, which caused me to review my college biology, which in turn meant remembering my college chemistry.

I bought this book and read and worked through the exercises from chapter one on quantities and units through chapter 17, acids and bases. At no time did I need to seek out another textbook to solve the problems. Everything you need as far as "lecture" is in the outline. All included tables, figures, definitions, explanations, and example problems are complete and excellent. None of the mathematics involved in chemistry calculations is difficult, but the rules can get involved and you need a good book like this one to explain all of the variations involved in solving problems.

Chapters 1 through 14 cover what you would normally learn in a two semester sequence of college chemistry. From that point on in the outline there are a series of miscellaneous topics. Of course, the one I appreciated the most was chapter 15 on organic chemistry and biochemistry, because it directly relates to what I needed to know so I could read the references to chemistry in the biology books without scratching my head. There are also additional chapters on thermodynamics and chemistry, acids and bases, metal ions, electricity and chemistry, and the chemistry of nuclear processes.

Whether you are a college chemistry student, or someone like me who needs to review the topic, I strongly advise you to pick up a copy of this inexpensive yet extremely clear and complete Schaum's outline. It also serves as a great reference after you finish your studies.
