Written in an easy to read style, yet authoritative, it represents a great read for students and documentary enthusiasts. Very much enjoyed the full color imagery and directly applicable techniques and lessons.

I went back and read more of your book and must say that you write very well with an interest provoking style which pulls even me in, a non-filmmaker. For this book, your writing is precise, fully informative with excellent resource information/photos and respect for the reader..all factors very important for the students. I like the look of the book, with big open spaces for note taking which also gives one the feeling of openess and importance..not a cheap,thrown-together book. Personally I like the fact that you include women and controversial filmmakers like Michel Moore.

About the Author
Jane Piper Clendinning is professor of music theory at the Florida State University College of Music. She has published articles reflecting her interests in the history of theory, theory and analysis of twentieth-century music, computer pitch recognition, and computer applications in music. Her current research interests include theory and analysis of popular and world musics. She has served as the chair of the Advanced Placement Music Theory Test Development Committee and as an AP reader, and is a regular consultant at AP workshops and summer Institutes.

Elizabeth West Marvin is professor of music theory and former dean of academic affairs at the Eastman School of Music. She has published in the areas of music cognition, music theory pedagogy, theory and analysis of atonal music, contour theory, history of theory, and analysis and performance. She is past president of the Society for Music Theory and is currently co-chair of the Advanced Placement Music Theory Test Development Committee. Marvin is the 2012 recipient of the Gail Boyd de Stwolinski Prize for Lifetime Achievement in Music Theory Teaching and Scholarship.

Reto Bachmann-Gm�r

Reto Bachmann-Gm�r, first learned about the Web in 1996, and believed it to be the perfect opportunity to combine his passion for technology with his desire to do something socially relevant. However, he got buried under information overload of the Web, and hardly got a chance to breathe until he finally heard about the semantic Web in 2002. He started development on various open source projects that were designed as better means to deal with the ever-growing information, ideally of course in a decentralized fashion without any position, and which were able to control the free flow of information. He worked on Graph Versioning with the Jena team at HP Laboratories, and on Semantic Content Management with Adobe. Since he hasn't fixed the world yet, he's increasingly trying to get others to do the job, partially with his consulting firm wymiwyg.com and partially fathering his 10-year-old son, ultimately spending less time fixing and more time enjoying.

He's a member of the Apache foundation and is active in various Semantic Web-related Apache projects.

First, disclaimer: I know Reto and have (indirectly) contributed to Stanbol.
But this is great! Strongly recommended, interesting material on how to take a boring old Content Management System and start make it genuinely useful, maximise web surface. The book starts at scratch, no assumptions on what you know, holds your hand to get your own thing running. I was impressed by the direct nature of it - think what you want to do with your system, here's how to do it. I say holding your hand, but nothing here is patronizing, is a good adult read.
